Lara Hood Napier Qualified as a professional architect from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 1990, graduating with honors. She worked for Papageorgiou Architects in South Africa, before moving to London in 1991, where she furthered her studies at The Bartlett, University Collage London, obtaining her part 111 and qualifying as a professional architect in the United Kingdom. In London Lara worked for Dexter Moren architects on projects in Mayfair and Kensington, and was admitted to the RIBA.
Returning to South Africa to start a family, Lara has been in private practice since 1994, forming Hood Napier Architects with her husband, Nick Napier in 2006. Her clients include the late archbishop Desmond Tutu and the DJ Black Coffee, as well as many leading corporate and private individuals. Specializing in private domestic architecture, Nick and Lara live and work between Guildford, England, and Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. They maintain an office in Johannesburg, headed up by architect Gregory Cousins.

Nick Napier is a senior architectural technologist with over 25 years experience in the detailed technical documentation of complex buildings. Nick qualified in 1992 and worked for Rob Ringrose and then SBE and Associates in Johannesberg, before creating Hood Napier Architects, which he owns and runs with his wife, Lara Hood, based in Guildford near London in the United Kingdom. The practice maintains an office in Johannesburg, South African, and has created bespoke homes for high end clients all over the world, working extensively in Africa as well as creating homes for clients in the United States, Mexico, Mauritius, Guildford and London. Nick is also a keen photographer and artist.
