The story of a house…

This home in Malibu , was designed by Hood Napier architects after the Woolsey Fire, the most lethal California Wild Fire in a hundred years, completely destroyed the original house . All that was left were the foundations and, ironically, the chimney.

Hood Napier designed a new home on the original footprint, changing the orientation to take advantage of the incredible views of the Santa Monica mountains, while pulling the light from the private garden at the rear. The result is a house that floats on a glass box, internally, while putting up a solid face to the world.
